What are Rooftop Bars in Bangkok?
Romance, celebrations, rooftop bars in Bangkok will always be there for you!
If you’ve never been to one of the many rooftop bars in Bangkok before, well let me tell you, they’re one of the most memorable nightlife experiences you can have in the city, and definitely an experience to add to your Bangkok Itinerary.
In addition to creative cocktails and delicious bite sized snacks (and even full on meals), you get to enjoy stunning panoramic vistas of the Bangkok skyline while lounging along to some live music.
Moreover, If you’re the party type, some of the most popular Bangkok rooftop bars such as the Pastel Mediterranean Rooftop Bar have classy late night party scenes that rival even the most energetic of nightclubs.
For rooftop bars in Bangkok, you can expect stylish crowds too, travelers, couples on date nights, and groups of friends celebrating a night out. The cocktails are often beautifully crafted, though slightly pricey, but the views and atmosphere make it worth it especially as rooftop bars in Bangkok are the perfect place to unwind after a long week.
Where to Find the Best Rooftop Bars in Bangkok?
Most of these bars sit high above the city on top of Bangkok’s luxury hotels (check out my recommendations for where to stay in Bangkok), with most of these being concentrated in the city center around the Sukhumvit area (from Siam to Thonglor ). These places are perfect for fancy cocktails and fine dining, Though dress codes are stricter and the atmosphere might feel a bit more uptight if you’re not used to that vibe.
If you’re looking for more down-to-earth rooftop bars in Bangkok, a good number of them exist along the Chao Phraya River near the old town districts of Sathon and Bang Lamphu. Here you can enjoy a few bottles of Singha or Chang beers without feeling guilty for wearing elephant pants.

Pastel Rooftop Bar & Mediterranean Dining
The decor at Pastel is real classy and elegant!
Without a doubt, the best rooftop bar in Bangkok (and my personal favorite) has to be Pastel Rooftop Bar & Mediterranean Dining. Located right in the heart of Sukhumvit in the lively Soi 11, just a few minutes walk from the Nana BTS station, and on the 22nd floor of the famed luxury Aira Hotel, winner of the 2024 Luxe Award.
Among the many rooftop bars in Bangkok, Pastel stands out for its relaxed Mediterranean vibe. The space feels bright and stylish, with soft pastel tones, cozy seating, and an open-air terrace with of course, gorgeous sweeping views of the Bangkok skyline.
Pastel has a fairly strict dress code (formal chic), no shorts, no open toed shoes, no sleeveless shirts, which is to be expected as the rooftop bar is located in a luxury hotel after all. Pastel opens from 5:00 PM - 1:00 AM but after 11:00 PM things start to get a little exciting…
After 11PM the bar turns into full on party mode with live performances and bangin’ music
One thing to note about Pastel Rooftop Bar & Mediterranean Dining is how the atmosphere evolves throughout the night. Early on, the vibe is relaxed and social but as the night goes on, the energy starts to build.
By around 11 PM, Pastel completely transforms into one of the liveliest rooftop bars in Bangkok. The music gets louder, the crowd grows, and live DJs take over with upbeat sets that turn the rooftop into a full-on party hotspot.
What started as a laid-back rooftop dinner spot suddenly feels like a vibrant nightlife destination, with people dancing, celebrating, and enjoying the electric atmosphere late into the night.
Coming form someone like me, who is quite introverted and shy, I actually enjoyed this party aspect because it’s all very classy, at one point there was even a lady doing some incredible ballet with those hanging hoola hoop things (sorry, I don’t know what they are called).
Pastel’s food is no slouch either! The kitchen headed by a Michelin Star awarded chef!
But since Feastography is a FOODIE travel blog, what appeals to me is the FOOD, and the cocktails too of course. The food at Pastel was spectacular, the Foie Gras Toast bite was my absolute favorite, literally the best thing I have ever put in my mouth. And it makes sense because the kitchen is headed by a Michelin Star awarded chef, Chef Kilian Fioretto.
In addition, the cocktails were some of the most creative (and delicious) I have ever had the pleasure of drinking. I got one called “The Dapper”, a cocktail made from gin, yuzu puree, and lemon juice, and it was served in this open mouth blue crystal geode-like fish where the mouth was smoking with hot ice.
You can check out Pastel’s Menu for pictures, but yeah, the food and cocktails were seriously good. Though I will say that each drink and dish is a lot pricier compared to the other rooftop bars in Bangkok.

Vertigo & Moon Bar Rooftop
When the sun sets and the lights come on at Vertigo is when the night gets really special
One of the most iconic rooftop bars in Bangkok, the Vertigo & Moon Bar Rooftop is located in the old town district along Sathorn Road and is perched on the 61st floor of the most luxurious and iconic hotels in the city, the Banyan Tree in Bangkok. This provides the rooftop bar with a breathtaking 360 view of the entirety of Bangkok.
The rooftop is divided into two main experiences. Vertigo is the elegant rooftop restaurant that focuses on upscale dining, while Moon Bar is the stylish cocktail bar located right beside it. The restaurant is known for its premium grilled seafood and imported steaks, along with an international menu perfect for a special dinner. Meanwhile, Moon Bar specializes in creative cocktails, wines, and light snacks.
A nice little table of cocktails and snacks
This rooftop bar in Bangkok opens in the evening, with the restaurant catering dinner service until 10:30 PM while the Moon Bar typically operates until 1 AM, which is good because drinks are obviously the most important aspect for a rooftop bar.
For their cocktails, I recommend their signature “Heaven Falls” which is made from Gin, Blue Curacao, Pampemousse Rose Liqueur, Citric Acid, Cucumber & Lychee Juice, and Sparkling Water.
Although there isn’t much of a party nightlife scene, if you’re looking for rooftop bars in Bangkok that combine luxury dining, handcrafted cocktails, and some of the best city views in Thailand, Vertigo & Moon Bar is definitely a must-visit for a classy evening lounge.

Octave Rooftop Lounge & Bar
4 whole floors of classy fun!
One of the rooftop bars in Bangkok I always recommend to friends is Octave Rooftop Lounge & Bar. An upscale rooftop bar located in the most expensive neighborhoods in Bangkok, Thonglor. This rooftop bar is situated on the 45th to 49th floor (yes, multiple floors) of the Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit.
The multi-floor design is an especially unique layout for a rooftop bar in Bangkok. The 45th floor is the main indoor bar and lounge area, the 48th floor is the open-air rooftop seating, and the 49th floor is the rooftop observation deck with a gorgeous 360 degree panoramic view of Bangkok while chill house music plays in the background.
My man is the master of cocktails!
Octave also stands out for its creative cocktail menu, as well as an extensive food menu. For the sweet toothed amongst you, I recommend the “Octave Dessert Box” which is a platter of beautifully decorated chocolates and cakes. I also like their “Bar Board” charcuterie board share.
The bar also offers a solid wine and champagne selection, along with classic cocktails for those who prefer something familiar. Compared to some rooftop bars in Bangkok that focus purely on the view, Octave really puts effort into crafting memorable drinks. In fact a lot of their food menu is centered around sharing making Octave one of the best rooftop bars in Bangkok to dine at if you are going as a group.

Red Sky (& CRU Champagne Bar)
Red Sky is one of the more iconicity striking rooftop bars in Bangkok
Do you happen to find yourself shopping till your heart’s content at one of the many shopping malls in the Siam district? Well why not end your shopping spree with an evening at the Red Sky Restaurant & Bar, a stylish rooftop bar in Bangkok located on the 55th floor of the the Centara Grand Hotel which itself is connected to the CentralWorld, one of the largest shopping malls in Bangkok.
Among rooftop bars in Bangkok, Red Sky is known for its central location and the spacious circular rooftop terrace that wraps around the building. This design gives you wide incredible views in multiple directions. There’s also a distinctive illuminated arch structure that changes colors throughout the evening, giving the rooftop a modern and slightly futuristic look.
Also, shopping malls are a big past time for Bangkokians, and if you are looking to splurge on a shopping spree, check out my article on the Best Shopping Malls in Bangkok.
A fine selection of cocktails at the CRU Champagne Bar!
The restaurant portion of the Bangkok rooftop bar specializes in European-inspired cuisine, with dishes like the Smoked Salmon Infused Pasta and the “Melting Calf Tongue” which is just divine.
Of course you can’t have a rooftop bar without cocktails and this is where the CRU Champagne Bar comes in. Mainly focused on a variety of exquisite champagnes, this rooftop bar also serves some delicious cocktails. My personal recommendation is the “Mango Glaze” made with Vodka, Limoncello, Malibu, lemon juice, mango, and Champagne.
With its prime location, stylish rooftop design, and great food, Red Sky definitely earns its place among the best rooftop bars in Bangkok.
Also, save on cocktails and dishes at the Red Sky by booking one of these dining packages on Klook, which comes with a a combo of dishes and drinks!

Akara Sky Hanuman Bangkok
Combining traditional Thai culture with nightlife? That’s genius!
Akara Sky Hanuman Bangkok is a newcomer in the rooftop bar scene but it has quickly established itself as one of the best rooftop bars in Bangkok. Located in One City Centre at the Phloen Chit area, this issn impressive and eye catching rooftop bar due to its giant Hanuman entryway/statue in the middle of the rooftop. A striking tribute to the legendary monkey warrior from Thai mythology.
there’s a whole lot more to experience here than just drinks, food and views. Akara is divided into multiple zones and “viewpoints” that are more like immersive/interactive art displays, each offering a unique vibe and experience. There’s cultural shows, traditional Thai carnival game booths, the aforementioned art display, etc…
In total there are 18 experiences on offer, and they are all dedicated to showcasing Thai culture in the most artistic (and maybe trippy) way possible.
Akara Sky Hanuman has some of the most beautifully designed cocktails in all of Bangkok
The cocktails here are a big highlight. The bar serves a range of creative signature drinks inspired by Thai culture and flavors, along with classic cocktails and premium spirits.
My personal favorites are the is the “Muay Thai” cocktail, and the “Tuk Tuk”, for the taste and also for the playful creativity in the presentation and theme-ing.
What really makes Akara Sky Hanuman stand out among rooftop bars in Bangkok is the overall experience. It feels more like a rooftop entertainment destination than just a bar. This Bangkok rooftop bar is definitely one to check out, if you are keen on having some artistic fun.
Akara Sky Hanuman also has special promotions on Klook with deals on drinks and dining with these discounted packages, check them out to save some money.

Tichuca Rooftop Bar
That’s way too crowded for my liking…
If you’re researching the Bangkok nightlife scene, no doubt, you’ve heard of the Tichuca Rooftop Bar, it’s probably the most famous rooftop bar in Bangkok. The bar is located on top of the T-One Building in Thonglor, not far from the Thong Lor BTS station.
Compared to some luxury hotel rooftops, Tichuca feels more like a trendy jungle-themed rooftop lounge. The first thing you’ll notice when you arrive is the giant glowing LED “tree” in the middle of the rooftop. This colorful light installation has become the bar’s signature feature and one of the most photographed nightlife spots in Bangkok. The whole thing sort of looks like that “Tree of Souls” from the Avatar films.
Tichuca does have some nice cocktails though
The menu here focuses mostly on creative cocktails and tropical drinks, which fit perfectly with the jungle theme. Expect colorful signature cocktails, classic mixed drinks, and a selection of beers and spirits. There are also light bar snacks available, but most people come here for the drinks, music, and atmosphere rather than a full meal.
I’ll be honest, I respect Tichuca and its popularity, but due to that same popularity it is not a rooftop bar in Bangkok that I would recommend visiting. Tichuca has become a huge tourist attraction rather than a bar and as a result, quality has dipped quite a bit. Plus due this perceived identity as a“tourist attraction”, the clientele aren’t really the most reputable types… If you know what I mean…

Yào Rooftop Bar
Bangkok is such a great city for rooftop bars and Yao is proof of that
Now we’re moving on to the old town districts and this area has some of the classiest rooftop bars in Bangkok, such as the Yào Rooftop Bar. This is Oriental Chinese-inspired establishment that sits on the 32nd floor of the Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse, in the historic Surawongse area near Silom.
From the red lanterns to the elegant décor, the whole place feels stylish yet traditional, and unique yet welcoming. The rooftop bar is part of the larger Yào dining concept, which focuses on modern Chinese cuisine with Cantonese influences. While many rooftop bars in Bangkok mainly serve drinks and light snacks, Yào puts a lot of attention into the food. The menu includes dishes like dim sum, roast duck, seafood, and beautifully presented Chinese-inspired plates that pair perfectly with drinks.
All of these cocktails are inspired by Chinatowns across the world
The cocktail menu here is also worth exploring. Many of the signature drinks are inspired by Chinese ingredients and flavors, which adds a creative twist you don’t often see at rooftop bars in Bangkok. You’ll also find a strong selection of wines, spirits, and classic cocktails if you prefer something familiar.
My personal favorite cocktails are their signature “Silverlake Mule” which is inspired by the Los Angeles chinatown, blending Vodka with lychee liqueur, fruit yogurt, lychee-butterfly jam, and lime. Another one is the “KolKaTa Negroni”, inspired by Chinatowns in India, it’s a special Negroni with the addition of Masala spices
Between the skyline views, the Chinese-inspired décor, and the excellent food and drinks, Yào Rooftop Bar offers a Bangkok rooftop bar experience that is culturally refined.

SEEN Restaurant & Bar Bangkok
A classy rooftop bar in Bangkok for a classy night out
Another rooftop spot that really stands out among rooftop bars in Bangkok is SEEN Restaurant & Bar Bangkok. This stylish rooftop sits on top of the Avani+ Riverside Bangkok Hotel, overlooking the Chao Phraya River. The location alone already makes it special because you’re not just looking at skyscrapers, you also get beautiful views of Thailand’s largest river winding through the city.
SEEN is known for its modern, glamorous rooftop design and vibrant atmosphere. The rooftop is divided into several areas, including a stylish indoor dining space and an open-air terrace. The concept comes from celebrity chef Olivier da Costa, who created SEEN as a high-energy dining and nightlife destination.
How many cocktails can you drink before you pass out?
Food is a big part of the experience here. The menu focuses on a fusion of cuisines between South American and Japanese with incredibly delicious signature highlights like the Scallop and Green Apple Ceviche, and the Seared Red Snapper.
The bar itself serves a great selection of creative cocktails, premium spirits, and champagne, along with beautifully presented signature drinks. I personally like the “Drink my Pina” inspired by the titular Pina Colada
SEEN typically opens until midnight, making it perfect for sunset drinks that transition into a lively nightlife scene. Between the river views, stylish décor, and upbeat atmosphere, SEEN Restaurant & Bar easily ranks as one of the most exciting rooftop bars in Bangkok for a night out.

Above Riva
Who knew temples could be so romantic?
For more down to earth and humble rooftop bar in Bangkok, check out Above Riva, a fantastic spot with the best scenic river/temples views in the city. This charming bar sits atop the Riva Arun Bangkok right along the banks of the Chao Phraya River in the historic Old Town area.
As the name of the hotel suggests, the bar is facing across the river, directly opposite Wat Arun, one of Thailand’s most iconic temples. Watching the temple glow at sunset from the rooftop is easily one of the most memorable experiences you can have at rooftop bars in Bangkok.
Compared to the big luxury sky bars in the city center, Above Riva feels much more intimate and relaxed. The rooftop is smaller and more personal, and the focus here is really on the scenery and atmosphere. If you’re exploring the temples around Bangkok (check out more of Bangkok’s temples), this is one of the best rooftop bars in Bangkok to stop for a break and enjoy the view.
A modern and international twist on the Thai tiger prawns
Above Riva is also known for its excellent Thai and international flavors. The restaurant serves a range of beautifully presented dishes that highlight traditional Thai flavors with a modern twist. Many people come here for dinner, especially because the food pairs perfectly with the riverside setting.
The bar serves a nice selection of cocktails, wines, and refreshing drinks, perfect for sipping as you watch boats pass by along the river.
While some rooftop bars in Bangkok focus on flashy nightlife, Above Riva stands out for its peaceful atmosphere and it’s easily one of the most scenic rooftops in the city.

Spectrum Lounge & Bar
I love the open air design of the Spectrum rooftop bar!
Spectrum Lounge & Bar is definitely worth adding to your list especially if you are exploring the Sukhumvit area. This stylish and upscale Bangkok rooftop bar sits on the 29th and 30th floors of the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit, right in the heart of the city’s nightlife district.
The rooftop is designed across two levels, the 29th floor is an indoor lounge and dining space where you can enjoy dinner and drinks in a more refined setting. Head upstairs to the 30th floor, and you’ll find the open-air rooftop terrace where most people gather to enjoy cocktails while overlooking the Sukhumvit skyline. The views aren’t the highest in the city, but they’re still impressive, especially when the city lights come on at night.
You got all the colors of the rainbow in this spread!
Food is a big highlight here. Spectrum specializes in premium grilled meats and modern international cuisine, with a menu that includes high-quality steaks, seafood, and elegant small plates designed for sharing.
The cocktails are also well crafted, with a mix of classic cocktails and creative signature drinks. Spectrum opens until 1:00 AM, and the atmosphere gradually becomes more lively later in the night, and pair that with the live music and you’re in for one wonderful night.
Between the stylish design, great food, and convenient location, Spectrum Lounge & Bar easily earns its place among the best rooftop bars in Bangkok.

Check the weather forecast - Many rooftop bars are open-air, and sudden rain showers can happen in Bangkok, especially during the rainy season.
